Every season we provide top notch gambling advice for the pro football bettor. The goal of Spreadtrends.com is to educate as well as entertain. Our
website crunches game results and delivers a breakdown of each team we call a TREND-REPORT® for every NFL team. With our TREND-REPORT® pages you can
see the tendency of a team toward covering or failing-to-cover in key situations. All of the data presented here is kept up to date so you will always know
where a team stands where it matters most- against the spread (ATS).
The spread on a game is the number that the sportsbook manager thinks has the highest expected win for the business, consistent with the risk the manager
manager is willing to accept. What that means, where possible, is setting the spreads in such a way as to earn a higher percentage on the best of those peple
who are going to be on their team no matter what the odds. This site delivers the same information sportsbook managers have so that you can become a sharp
bettor and find an edge.
The handicapping reports presented on this site will get you ready for the forthcoming NFL football season. Whether you bet with a sportsbook, participate in
a weekly pool with your friends/colleagues, or you are simply doing research, you can use the valuable NFL point spread trends presented on this site to make
informed NFL football picks and increase your winnings. We also offer our very own TREND-SEARCH® algorithm which performs statistical analysis on past trends
to predict future game winners ATS.

This website offers a useful array of handicapping trends and reports catering to a wide-range of individuals interested in the game of American Football, from the serious office pool player to the college researcher. As an NFL fan, with a passion for statistics that can be leveraged to beat the point spread, my hope is that you'll find this project interesting.

We get our team statistics from the Pro-Football-Reference database (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/download/) for the 2002-2008 seasons. In 2009 we switched to a new proprietary source for our statistics. We make our own notes on games where there is an injury to an impact player since it could have impacted the result of the game.
We always use the closing line for point spreads and totals. Depending on the season we have used the closing lines from a variety of websites. Starting in 2008 we started using the live odds (and scores) available via the WinTheTrophy BetBot API (http://winthetrophy.com/apiv1_documentation) which we like a lot.
We get our live and historical weather information from the WeatherUnderground API (http://www.wunderground.com/weather/api/). We make our own notes on games we observed to have extreme weather conditions. In addition we note the type of surface the game was played on and the status (open or closed) of stadiums that have a retractable roof.
