Our Principles

Effective Date: April 1, 2020

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #1

At SpreadTrends we believe that privacy is critical to your ongoing patronage of our service, the success of the SpreadTrends community, and to the overall vibrancy of the Internet. For these reasons, SpreadTrends adheres to the privacy principles on this page. These principles cover how SpreadTrends treats personal information about you (the "Subscriber") that SpreadTrends collects and receives, including information related to your use of SpreadTrends (the "Service"). Personal information is data about you that is personally identifiable, like your name, address, email address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available. These principles do not apply to the practices of companies that SpreadTrends does not own or control, or to people that SpreadTrends does not directly employ or manage. SpreadTrends reviews this policy on an annual basis and may update or amend it at any time. The date this policy was last updated is identified at the top of this page. We will notify you about material changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the email address specified in your SpreadTrends account or by placing a prominent notice on our site. You are also responsible for periodically visiting the SpreadTrends website and this Privacy Policy to check for any changes.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #2

SpreadTrends takes your personal information, and your privacy, seriously. We will keep all of the personal information that you provided during the registration process private and confidential, except as explicity stated in this policy. SpreadTrends may use information that uniquely identifies you to improve our Service, contact you in response to a specific inquiry, or send you promotional emails about our service. We may record your interactions with our service to improve the quality of the service. SpreadTrends stores your email address. We do not store your account password or your password reminder question in plaintext. We do not store any credit card or payment information.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #3

SpreadTrends uses your personal information for "group" demographic statistics and communications. We do not share data with third party marketers. We may use named third party service providers to process and store Subscriber data. Otherwise we will not disclose your individual personal information, meaning your email address, to anyone unless acting under a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: conform to legal requirements imposed on SpreadTrends or to comply with a legal process; protect and defend SpreadTrends rights or property; or enforce the SpreadTrends Terms of Service.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #4

SpreadTrends may collect Internet Protocol ("IP") address data when you visit web pages on the SpreadTrends website. An IP address is a number associated with the service through which you access the Internet, like your ISP (Internet service provider), your company, or your university. Standing alone, your IP address is not personally identifiable. At times, we also use IP addresses for purposes of system administration and to report aggregate information to our advertisers and service providers, for example regarding the frequency with which our guests visit various parts of SpreadTrends. SpreadTrends may combine information about you that we obtain directly with information we obtain from business partners or other companies.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #5

SpreadTrends may use "cookies" to store and occasionally track information on our website, thus enabling us to provide you with customizable and personalized service. For example, we may use this information to remember your location and data filtering preferences. A cookie is no more than a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. SpreadTrends may also use "web beacons". A web beacon is an electronic file that allows a website to count users who have visited that page or access certain cookies.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #6

As a Subscriber, you are automatically signed up to receive email messages from us containing content and service updates and other matters of interest. SpreadTrends uses Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group, LLC) to manage email campaigns and newsletter subscriber lists and to send emails to our Subscribers. You may choose to discontinue this email service at any time by notifying us via email at support [at] SpreadTrends or by using your email received to opt out. You can find the MailChimp privacy policy at https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #7

SpreadTrends uses Google Analytics which tracks data about visitors to SpreadTrends. Google Analytics collects and processes data to provide SpreadTrends insights into how users find and use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie about your use of SpreadTrends is usually transmitted to a Google server and stored there. Google might transfer the personal information collected via this technical procedure to third parties. You can find out how Google collects and uses information at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #8

SpreadTrends may display targeted advertisements based on personal information. Advertisers (including ad serving companies) may assume that people who interact with, view, or click on targeted ads meet the targeting criteria (for example, men aged 35-44 from a geographic area). SpreadTrends does not provide any personal information to the advertiser when you interact with or view a targeted ad. However, by interacting with or viewing an ad you are consenting to the possibility that the advertiser will assume that you meet the targeting criteria used to display the ad.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #9

At SpreadTrends you control your own personal information. You may request that we delete any of your personal information we collected from you and retained in our member records. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records unless an exception applies. You may cancel your subscription to the service at any time. To cancel your subscription to the service or to request the removal of your personal information from our member records, send an email to support [at] SpreadTrends. SpreadTrends reserves the right to maintain information on registered members who have violated our Terms of Service or to comply with a legal obligation.

  • PRIVACY PRINCIPLE #10

We adopt these privacy principles to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ("CCPA") and any other California privacy laws. The CCPA provides consumers (California residents) with specific rights regarding their personal information. You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months. This Privacy Policy provides the categories, purposes, categories of third parties, and specific pieces of personal information we collected about you. You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information we collected from you and retain, subject to certain exceptions. To exercise these rights, send an email to support [at] SpreadTrends. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your any of your CCPA rights. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not deny you use of our service or provide you a different level of quality of services.
